Certified CenterThere was a time where 'hybrid' and 'performance' were not often seen in the same sentence. But all of that has changed with the addition of the i Series to the BMW new model lineup. Our automaker just released a great new video on the innovative i8, so we wanted to highlight that model today here on our blog. Let's take a look.
In terms of design, BMW employed their new LifeDrive Architecture, which divides the model into the Drive portion, and the Life portion. The exterior is futuristic, sleek and unique. The i8 features swooping curves, with a radiator exhaust in the hood, and stylish, widely-opening scissor doors. The exterior lighting is almost as high tech as the powertrain, with LED headlights and taillights. Moving within the interior, a stark black and white design emits a futuristic vibe. And matching that futuristic feeling is a ton of included tech and comfort features. These include a new navigation system, iDrive infotainment, a rear view camera, and an advanced forward collision system, with pedestrian recognition.
But of course, the most impressive aspect of the i8 is the powertrain. The model draws electric power from a model-specific synchronous electric motor, which is mated with a three-cylinder traditional engine for a total output of 360 horsepower. Have a look at the video below for more information.
