The 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show is just a mere few days away, and here at Ganley BMW, our excitement is growing by the day in anticipation of the six model debuts that the Bavarian automaker has scheduled.
One of the most popular vehicles in the new BMW lineup is the BMW X5 SAV for its matchless style, powerful performance, versatility and efficiency. Now, the automaker is seeking to top itself, by debuting a plug-in electric hybrid concept version of the popular SAV in Frankfurt this month.
The BMW Concept X5 eDrive is certainly a ground-breaking model as it's gas-powered engine will work alongside of an electric motor to provide its driver with the perfect blend of power and utility while releasing no harmful toxins into the environment.
The model's exterior lets you know upon a single glance that it is a BMW with its classic styling that features air intake bars, an inlayed rear bumper, slatted kidney grille and signature Blue exterior paint job that is reserved for the brand's eco-friendly i models. The concept also features 21-inch light-alloy wheels with an aerodynamic design, charging cable with a light a light-up connector, and Silverflake metallic accepts and detailing.
Under the hood of the BMW X5 eDrive Plug-in Hybrid Concept, a four-cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo technology is found with a 95-horsepower electric motor that helps the vehicle achieve a competent 19-mile driving range when it is in all-electric mode before needing a recharge.
