A new generation of front-wheel drive vehicles will be joining us here at Ganley BMW in the coming years.  Highlighting this new series will be the Active Tourer and the variants that will stem from this model when it is released.

It seems all too common that new BMW models are introduced but never grace the United States with their presence, being available only to overseas markets.  For the Active Tourer this is not the case, and it has been reported that the vehicle will be offered here in Middleburg Heights, Ohio by the year 2015.

We first met the Active Tourer as a concept over a year ago at the Paris Motor Show.  Now, paired with the announcement it will officially enter production, the vehicle has appeared in photos from BMW.  These images depict it cruising through scenic outdoor landscapes with a bright orange/bronze finish.

The in-depth details for the Active Tourer have yet to be released, but we can decipher some specs from the concept we saw in Paris.  The production model will likely be a little smaller than the 2014 BMW X1, and will be built upon a platform similar to that of the Mini hatchback that was displayed recently at the LA Auto Show.

Borrowing the platform from the Mini will result in the Tourer being a key player in BMW's new generation of front-wheel vehicles, although an all-wheel variant seems to be in the picture as well down the road.  The Tourer will also offer an extended version with a third row of seats, and will be joined by a new front-wheel drive sedan sometime around 2017 to complete the new generations offerings.

As more details emerge about all of the front-wheel models that include the Active Tourer we will update you here on our blog, so stay tuned.

We look forward to adding these models to our inventory of new BMW vehicles serving the entire Cleveland, Ohio region, so hold tight as they make their way into production soon.
