The vehicles we have here at Ganley BMW in Middleburg Heights, Ohio typically garner awards for their features and overall value, and recently two of our great models were honored as finalists for the highly esteemed Motor Trend Car of the Year Award.
Every new year model is initially tossed into the running for the Car of the Year award, so to make the final cut is nothing short of amazing. For 2014 both the 4 Series and 5 series made the short list that included a total of 22 models.
The 2014 5 Series was represented by the M5 Competition pack, which brought high performance parts and extra power under the hood. With a 4.4-liter V-8 offering 575 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, this model offers the most speed within the lineup. A variety of trims within the 5 series brings consumers numerous options when browsing for a ride, something that helped boost the sedan into the spotlight.
For the 2014 4 Series BMW brought out two versions to be tested by Motor Trend, the 428i and 435i. This smaller two door series brings agility and speed with either a turbo 2.0-liter Inline-four or a turbo 3.0-liter Inline-six, and is available as both a coupe and convertible. The smooth design of the 4 Series caught the eyes of the testers and the ride quality matched this, resulting in their placement as a finalist.
Although neither of the BMW models finished in the top spot, just to be named finalists for the award is a testament to their value and abilities.
